What to Expect: Wear and Replacement
Most Lyric devices last about two to three months before the battery depletes, though this varies depending on your ear canal environment. When it’s time for a new device, you’ll typically come in for a quick, comfortable in-office visit for removal and replacement.
If you’ve been wearing Lyric for a while, you may also be eligible for at-home self-replacement, an FDA-cleared option (available since 2024) that lets experienced wearers replace their own device between office visits, with guidance from us along the way. It’s optional and not right for everyone, but for the right patient, it can cut the number of office visits roughly in half.
Lyric and Tinnitus
Lyric is also used as a tinnitus management option. Research, including a randomized controlled trial and follow-up studies, has found that Lyric can relieve tinnitus faster than daily-wear hearing aids and improve sleep quality for many wearers, likely because it provides consistent, natural sound input around the clock rather than only during waking hours.
